What can I substitute for an aebleskiver pan?


Before I spend a lot of $ on an aebleskiver pan, I’d like to try the recipe first. Is there anything that I can substitute for the pan? I have a cast iron frying pan. I was thinking of using a muffin pan in the oven but don’t know if it will be hot enough.
